Nobody’s Uncle Launches Kickstarter for New Christian Album Kiss the Son

Michigan indie Christian rock project Nobody’s Uncle has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Kiss the Son, a 13-song follow-up to 2025’s Mercy Diorama - the independently produced album draws from ’90s alternative rock, early-2000s indie and emo, with its lyrics centred on Christian faith.

The actual campaign is raising money specifically for the album’s physical release, including CDs, packaging and merchandise, and runs through October 30, after launching on October 1 and is supporting the independent release of the planned 13-track album, which follows Mercy Diorama, the project’s debut album from 2025.

According to Nobody’s Uncle, the songs repeatedly return to the things people can place their trust in instead of God, including achievement, comfort, approval and intelligence, where the artist does not describe the record as a traditional concept album, but were the songs gradually came to share the same underlying subject - the tendency to reach for things we can control when faith requires trust.

That theme also connects with the project's earlier material.

Nobody’s Uncle started as a one-person music project

Nobody’s Uncle began writing and recording music at the end of 2024, with the first album Mercy Diorama arriving in November 2025, and in a 2026 interview with Indie Vision Music, the artist explained that keeping himself out of the spotlight was partly intentional, as he wanted attention to remain on Christ rather than on himself, while also acknowledging that anonymity makes promotion harder in a music industry heavily built around personality and social media.

The first single from Kiss the Son is already out

The album campaign follows the release of “The Shameless Swoon”, the first single from Kiss the Son, which was released in September, where the song deals directly with questions about Christian conviction.

Musically, the track sits in the same alternative space as the rest of the project, combining melodic power-pop elements with late-1990s emo and indie rock, and it is already available to stream and buy through the usual platforms, including Bandcamp.

The new album follows Mercy Diorama, which was independently released in November 2025, and the debut contains 11 songs and was written, performed, produced and mixed by Nobody’s Uncle, with mastering handled by Iain Thomas at Soundtopia Studios.

The album dealt with subjects including grief, anxiety, suffering, unanswered prayers and Christian hope - songs such as “Elliott”, “Penelope” and “Empire For Eden” draw on personal experiences, while the album's Christian themes are woven through the songwriting rather than presented as a collection of straightforward worship songs.

There are several reward levels too with the kickstarter campaign if you was to donate, including CDs, T-shirts and signed and numbered editions.
