Texas metalcore band The Light Superior have released their debut full-length album Dayspring, arriving today, October 2, through Rottweiler Records.
The seven-track record is the next step for a band that began in Amarillo, Texas, in 2018 and has spent the past several years building up to its first full album, where their earlier releases include the I AM EP and singles such as Tidal Wave, Dark Moon and Ghost.
The album runs for around 27 minutes, making Dayspring a fairly compact debut rather than a sprawling introduction to the band, where the title Dayspring points towards the idea of first light or dawn, and that theme runs through the album's track titles.
It opens with "Genesis", followed by previously released songs "Ghost" and "Dark Moon". The title track then leads into "Solid Ground" and "Revelation", before the album closes with "Dark Moon Reimagined", featuring Drive Thru Society.
Glenn Gizzi has a role in the album
Glenn Gizzi is a founding member of Phinehas and produced the album, while also contributing guest lead guitar to the title track, which connects The Light Superior with an earlier generation of American Christian metalcore while keeping the actual album focused on the Texas band's own material.
Dayspring isn't The Light Superior's first release, as the band have also released I AM in 2022 after signing with Rottweiler Records, "Tidal Wave" followed in 2024, while "Dark Moon" and "Ghost" arrived in 2025 after changes to the band's line-up.
A Christian metalcore release from the independent scene
The Light Superior are part of the heavier side of Christian music, with the band's own Spotify profile describing their mission as being to glorify God and their lyrics as dealing with issues of the heart and soul while offering hope.
Rottweiler Records is also an important part of that independent heavy-music connection too - the Dallas-area label's catalogue includes a range of punk, hardcore and extreme-metal artists, while specifically looking for artists whose music carries a message of hope and truth.
Dayspring is released on October 2, 2026, with the album listed across current music-release listings and streaming platforms - The Light Superior's music is also available through their official Bandcamp page, while Rottweiler Records maintains its own Bandcamp catalogue, where the band's Dayspring material is listed.
