Kid Rock has announced a new Christian album that takes his music further into the subject of faith - Halfway to Jesus will be released on October 17, with the 17-track record following the release of “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)”, which arrived on October 1 - the new album will combine the rock, country and hip-hop influences that have been part of Kid Rock's career with songs explicitly focused on Christianity, and it is also not a solo project from start to finish, as the album also includes Eminem on “7 Sins”, while Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts and Jimmie Allen appear on “Halfway 2 Jesus”.

The first single “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)” takes its title from James 1:17, the New Testament verse about every good and perfect gift coming from God. where the song also deals directly with Kid Rock's own account of his faith journey - he has described waking up at around 2 a.m. and writing the song in approximately 30 minutes, where the lyrics look back at mistakes and a period of searching before turning towards Jesus.

The video to the single itself is dedicated to longtime keyboard player Jimmie Bones, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2024, and fan Kalvin Lynch, who has an inoperable brain tumor and was able to play drums with Kid Rock through a Make-A-Wish experience.

What songs are on Halfway to Jesus?

The full 17-track album includes:

  1. Freedom

  2. James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)

  3. 7 Sins feat. Eminem

  4. Why Don't You Look Into Jesus

  5. Water Into Wine

  6. Halfway 2 Jesus feat. Gary LeVox & Jimmie Allen

  7. I Don't Drink the Whiskey Anymore

  8. Me and Jesus

  9. God Is Good (Prelude)

  10. God Is Good

  11. Into the Setting Sun

  13. 'Til You Can't

  14. Why Don't You Look Into Jesus (Riri Mix)

  15. High Road

  16. Procession

  17. God Bless the USA

The tracklist makes the Christian direction fairly obvious, with titles such as “Water Into Wine,” “Me and Jesus,” “God Is Good” and “Why Don't You Look Into Jesus” sitting alongside more conventional Kid Rock titles such as “High Road” and “Broken Hearted People”.

The new album isn't Kid Rock's first move into Christian music this year either, because if you was not aware, his version of “'Til You Can't”, originally recorded by Cody Johnson, reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart earlier in 2026, where Kid Rock had performed his version during the alternative Super Bowl halftime event in February.

What has Kid Rock said about making Christian music?

Kid Rock has described the album as the result of a personal spiritual journey and said he felt called to record it, and he has also spoken about growing up Catholic and later attending Baptist and non-denominational churches because he was looking for Christian music that connected with him - his stated aim with the new material was to celebrate Jesus and his faith using the musical styles he already knows - rock, country and hip-hop.

The project is still built around Kid Rock's established musical identity, but the subject matter has shifted much more directly towards Christianity.

The first single, “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King),” is available now through major streaming and digital music services, and Kid Rock's official website is also currently promoting the single and album, with links to streaming and purchasing platforms - Halfway to Jesus arrives on October 17, 2026.
